Overview
Christian adoptive couples welcomed for Caucasian and Hispanic infant adoptions. Home study ready adoptive couples are also welcome to apply.
Many families are now expectantly waiting to adopt domestic Caucasian children. Through a network of caseworkers across the state of Georgia, An Open Door nurtures and counsels birthmothers who want to place their children for adoption. Families may also network to find birthmothers themselves. Ultimately, each family is blessed with a precious child of their own.
Adoptive parents may enter the domestic program either through one of our free Adoption Informational Meetings, usually scheduled in February, May or September, or by a personal interview at our headquarters at any time. Once a family enters the program, a home study is begun. The agency then offers a full-day training session in the adoption process and parenting.
When all documentation and training are completed, families enter the "active pool" of
adoptive parents from which agency-matched birthparents
select the family for their child. The average waiting
time for agency matching is 12 to 18 months and shorter
for young, childless couples or for those willing to
accept a Hispanic domestic adoption.
In addition to agency-matched placements, where the agency offers a fixed-fee option, the agency also assists families in a networking program to find birthparents themselves. These networked or "designated" placements are handled on a cost pass-through basis. We are happy to assist a family by either program that finds your child first.
An Open Door is one of the largest and most reputable agencies in Georgia, placing over twenty-five domestic Caucasian infants each year. We have caseworkers conveniently located to serve you anywhere in the state of Georgia. The program is also open to families from other states. We welcome the opportunity to help you find your child.
