China Program
The first adoption in our China program was in November, 1998. We now have a very active China program. We have many families in each stage of the adoption process and often among them are quite a few families that are adopting a second time from China. It is an excellent program, a fantastic experience and the children are incredible. It’s hard not to go back again!
We work with a very well established facilitator who has handled Chinese adoptions since China first began allowing international adoptions. Working together with our facilitator, a Chinese National, and PLAN Loving Adoptions, our partner agency, the China program runs very smoothly. He has staff in each city that the families will need to visit and the families are accompanied from the time they step off the plane until they go back to the plane for their flight home.
There are many benefits to adopting from China. The program is tried and true. It is extremely predictable and so it is much less of an emotional hardship since you have realistic expectations about the adoption from the beginning and you know what to expect. There are also chat groups and E-mail groups of families that are adopting from China. You can find out well in advance what group you will be traveling with and begin corresponding with the other families that will be with you in China!
Following the acceptance of your application and service agreement, the agency will assist you in preparation of your international adoption home study, US CIS application and dossier. We will assist you in state and consulate authentications of your documents and then our facilitator will translate and send your dossier to China. There is now approximately a nine month wait before the assignment of a child. Following your acceptance of the child, a travel date will be assigned. This usually takes place within 2 months of accepting your referral.
The Chinese government implemented a quota on the number of adoptions allocated to single adoptive parents but there is no longer a limit on the number of adoptive couples.
